United Way Of Newfoundland, generous again this year!

We are so grateful to be chosen again this year by United Way of Newfoundland and Labrador to have our project be approved for a grant. We began our program “Culture, Sport and Play” a number of years ago and we have been able to keep it going with the help of VOCM Cares Foundation and the Ice Caps Cares and Williams Family Foundation.

The Program focuses on social activities that take us out of the centre. We enjoy activities that are based in either “Culture”, in “Sport” or in “Play”. We have tried curling, mini golf and bowling to name a few and  we have visited the Rooms and movie theatres and we have been to various parks in the city and enjoyed a BBQ or a picnic.

For some of our members, getting out into the community to see what our wonderful city has to offer, can be difficult. Sometimes, it’s a matter of knowing what’s available but in some cases, barriers maybe be financially based or rooted in the fact that sometimes, as adults,we may not always have a circle of friends to enjoy what this great place has to offer.

Later this month we will attend a cheque presentation to receive our funding to keep the the program going but if you would like to donate to the centre, and to this wonderful project, you can send donations through CanadaHelps.org
